Our commitment
Child safeguarding & protection
Last updated: June 2026
PRASM works with children and families who are refugees, many of them undocumented and vulnerable. Their safety and dignity come before everything else, including our own storytelling. This is our public commitment, and we're putting it in place from the start, not as an afterthought.
Our commitment
We have zero tolerance for any form of abuse, exploitation, or neglect of children or vulnerable adults. In every decision, the safety and best interests of the child come first.
Who this applies to
Everyone acting in PRASM's name (our founder, volunteers, visitors, photographers, and any partner we work with) is expected to follow this policy. Working with us means accepting it.
How we protect people
We act with consent, never coerce, and never put a child in a situation that isn't safe or supervised. We don't publish the village's location or any detail that could identify or endanger a vulnerable, undocumented community. Wherever we can, more than one trusted adult is present during activities, and we don't share the private contact details of children or families.
Photos & stories
We photograph and tell stories only with informed consent, freely given and able to be withdrawn at any time. We protect identities wherever there's any risk: first names only or none, no identifying details, and never images of children shared in a way that could expose or exploit them. Dignity comes before a compelling image, every time.
Conduct we expect
Anyone representing PRASM treats people with respect, keeps appropriate boundaries, never uses their position for personal or sexual benefit, and never offers money, gifts, or help in exchange for anything. Conduct that puts a child or vulnerable person at risk ends a person's involvement with us.
Raising a concern
If you have a concern about the safety of a child or anyone we work with, or about the conduct of someone connected to PRASM, please tell us straight away through our contact page. We take every concern seriously, act on it promptly, and protect the person who raised it. Where a child is at immediate risk, we involve the appropriate local authorities or protection services.
An honest note
We're a small, emerging initiative. We don't yet have a large compliance department. But we do have clear principles, and we'd rather state them plainly and be held to them. As we grow, we'll formalize this with a named safeguarding lead, volunteer vetting, and a fuller internal policy.
